What each one does in UnPull

VoiceOver

Every screen works with VoiceOver. Buttons and controls are named, and drawings that only decorate are skipped. The calendar reads each day’s check-in mood, its pauses, and whether it was a steady day; charts read their values; and the pause timer reads the seconds left, then says when the pause is complete. Falling Leaves and Leaves on the Stream speak up as things change.

Voice Control

Every button has a name you can say, including the ones that show only a symbol. Apple Watch doesn’t have Voice Control.

Larger Text

On iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, words follow your text size up to the largest accessibility sizes, and screens rearrange to fit: rows stack, and the week in Progress becomes a list. The calendar’s dates and two small charts stop growing at the largest sizes, while the details beside them keep growing. On the Mac, UnPull’s text stays at its standard size; Zoom, in the Mac’s Accessibility settings, enlarges everything on screen.

Dark Interface

UnPull follows your device’s light or dark appearance. The pause, the Rescue Button, and App Lock’s screen keep the forest’s dark colors in both, UnPull on Apple Watch is always dark, and Safari’s Pause Page follows Safari’s appearance.

Differentiate Without Color Alone

Moods come with their symbol or name: a sun for steady, a cloud with a sun for mixed, a cloud for difficult. With Differentiate Without Color on, the small mood dots in Progress become those symbols too, and a day your count began again gets a mark of its own.

Sufficient Contrast

Words meet the 4.5:1 contrast that accessibility guidelines recommend, in light and dark appearance, apart from the hints inside empty fields. With Increase Contrast on, supporting words turn full strength.

Reduced Motion

With Reduce Motion on, the pause’s breathing circle holds still and its breathe-in, breathe-out cue steps aside, leaving the countdown. Elsewhere, movement is turned off or kept small: cards don’t grow under the pointer, and games and screens change without sliding. Safari’s Pause Page and this website hold still too.

Captions

Every recorded lesson in Roots plays with its full text on the page, which the recording reads word for word. Lessons aren’t on Apple Watch.

Audio Descriptions

UnPull has no video, so there’s nothing to describe.

Feeling the pause

When a pause finishes on iPhone, you feel a tap. On Apple Watch, a tap on your wrist marks each breath in and out; Pause Haptics, in UnPull’s settings on the Watch, turns it off.
